. I am Basia (short for Barbara), an illustrator and visual communicator. I studied Foundation in Visual Communication and BA (Hons) Illustration and Animation at the UCA: Canterbury, and Postgraduate Illustration at the UAL: CCA in London, where I'm currently based.

 

I create editorial style illustrations by blending digital and traditional techniques, emphasising organic textures to infuse my work with a unique soul, and distinctively experimental mark-making methods, such as handmade tools.

My individual projects mostly explore human nature and relationships through autobiographical objects, drawing on nostalgia, cultural memory, and tactile materials to tell sentimentally driven short stories. Objects are my primary visual storytelling tool, letting their emotional and cultural associations communicate personal narratives beyond literal depiction.
